A charming weekly market in the beautiful town of Altea, spreading through the streets below the old town. Particularly strong on artisan crafts, handmade jewelry, organic produce, and local honey. More upscale and artistic than the Benidorm markets. Great combined with a visit to the old town.

A pleasant weekend market in the neighboring town of Albir (El Albir). Strong focus on local organic produce, homemade bread, artisan cheeses, and international food stalls. More relaxed and less crowded than the Benidorm markets. Walk-through format along a palm-lined road.

A vibrant flea market held on the English Square (Plaza de la Hispanidad) area. Second-hand goods, vintage clothing, antiques, books, vinyl records, and unique finds. Popular with both locals and expats. A treasure hunters paradise where you never know what you will discover.

The magnificent art-nouveau Central Market of Alicante, built in 1921. Two floors of over 300 stalls selling the finest local produce: Jijona turron, Alicante wines, saffron, fresh seafood, cured hams, and local cheeses. The building itself with its ornate iron and glass dome is worth the visit alone.
Monday-Saturday 7am-2:30pm, Saturdays busiest and most lively
A unique experience watching the daily fish auction at the Calpe fishing port. Local fishermen unload their catch and it gets auctioned to restaurants and dealers in a noisy, authentic spectacle. The adjacent restaurants serve the same fish hours later. A window into the genuine Mediterranean fishing tradition.
Monday-Friday 5-6pm when boats arrive, auction at 5:30pm
The mountain town of Callosa den Sarria (20 minutes inland) is the capital of medlar fruit (nispero) and local honey production. The weekly market and permanent shops sell these local specialties along with mountain cheeses, homemade jams, and olive oil. Visit the honey museum for tastings and education.
Saturday market, April-May for nispero season
The famous Valor chocolate brand has its factory and flagship store in Villajoyosa. Browse an enormous selection of chocolates, truffles, and cocoa products at factory prices. The adjacent chocolate museum (free entry) explains the history of chocolate production in this area dating back to the 18th century.
